Beijing Tours Shanghai to Play for China Cup

The Beijing Cricket Club will tour Shanghai May 17-18 to play the Shanghai Cricket Club for the China Cup. The China derby, played every year between Shanghai and Beijing, starts at 10 am on Sunday, May 18 at the Shanghai Rugby Football Club in Pudong.

Beijing CC arrives on Saturday evening at the Baolong Hotel with welcome drinks to be held at the Sticky Wicket Bar in the Big Bamboo Jingan from 8:00 pm onwards (123 Nanyang Lu; directly opposite the hotel). All SCC members are encouraged to attend.

An awards ceremony will be held following the  China Cup on Sunday.

The Beijing Cricket Club

SCC Announces Squad for China Cup

The Shanghai Cricket Club announced the starting XI today for the defense of the China Cup against Beijing Cricket Club on Sunday, May 18 in Shanghai.

Club Captain Oliver Austin named the following 11 players: Waqar Khattak (cpt), Ben Lyons, Kevin Wright (wk), Sajid Anwar, Alex Cumming, Sameer Jolly, Ankit Kawatra, Deepak Nautiyal, Santosh Yadav, and debutants Steve Field and Dayne Wotton.

The China derby, played every year between Shanghai and Beijing, starts at 10 am at the Shanghai Rugby Football Club in Pudong. Shanghai won the 2013 fixture in Beijing.

The Shanghai Cricket Club has released the 2014 Club Tour Schedule. Highlights include a return to Hong Kong for the annual Bohkara Bell Memorial Interport match with Hong Kong Cricket Club and a new fixture with the Singapore Cricket Club that renews ties between Shanghai and Singapore that go all the way back to the late 19th Century. Are You Ready for Some Cricket? 2014 Season Schedule Released

The Shanghai Cricket Club has released the schedule for the 2014 SCC League season as well as anticipated club tours to Hong Kong and Singapore and the hosting of the China Cup.

The season kicks of on March 23 with an SCC League Division 3 match between the Daredevils and Pudong at the Shanghai Rugby Football Club. The SCC will see its first action on April 6 when the first Maroon vs Green inter-squad match of the season is held.

SCC to Hold End of Season Awards Ceremony and Annual General Meeting on December 7

The 2013 season has reached its finale. With the SCC Santa Fe League having concluded a very action packed season and the SCC Dragons and Pirates having concluded a full season of touring, it is time to celebrate the year that was.

All cricketers are encouraged to attend the Annual General Meeting and Annual Awards Ceremony to be held on Saturday, December 7 at the Radisson Blu Plaza Xing Guo Hotel, as we look back on our most successful season to date.

The SCC Committee will review the season and highlight the achievements made by the Club both on and off the field and then recognise the achievements of teams and players on the field.

The AGM and Annual Awards Night is open to all clubs, and members will be asked to vote on the Executive Committee positions of Secretary, Treasurer and Development Officer.

This will be followed by an inter- club social mixer and awards ceremony, with trophies being given to the League Champions as well as the best batsman, bowler, fielder and MVP from each division.

In addition the Club will honour those capped players who played for the SCC in Dragons and Pirates matches and recognise all the individuals who had their names added to the Club or League Honour Boards.

HAT-TRICK!!! Daredevils CC Win Third Consecutive Division 1 Championship

Daredevils CC won their third consecutive Division 1 crown on Sunday, defeating Pudong CC in the final over of the match.

Pudong batted first in the 35-over match and set a target of 208 to win, making it to the end of their 35 overs with just one wicket in hand. Maintaining the run rate throughout the chase, the Daredevils reached the target with just one wicket and three balls to spare in the final over of the match.

Pudong CC Claim Division 3 Crown

In a rematch of last year’s Division 3 Final, Pudong CC defeated the defending champions Bashers CC in an exciting Twenty20 match on Sunday, November 10 at Dulwich College.

The Bashers set a target of 134 from their 20 overs, losing 5 wickets in the attack, and Pudong answered, chasing the total down in 15.5 overs with 8 wickets to spare.

FINALLY: Digital Devils Capture 2013 Division 2 Championship

The third time is the charm! The Digital Devils defeated defending champion K2 Leopards on Sunday, October 27 to capture the 2013 SCC League Division 2 Championship. Holding K2 Leopards to 155 runs in the first innings, Digital Devils chased the total, scoring 159 with three wickets in hand. It was the first win for the club in Division 2, after making it to the finals for the past three consecutive years.

SCC Squads Announced for Bokhara Bell Memorial Interport Series with Hong Kong CC

SCC Club Captain Sanjay Anugula announced the squads today for the upcoming Bokhara Bell Memorial Interport match and Twenty20 against Hong Kong CC.

The SCC XII that will take on HKCC in the 50 over, Bokhara Bell Memorial match on Saturday include skipper Waqar Khattak, Ben Lyons, Phil Childs, Sanjay Anugula, Jacques Erasmus, Jon Newton, Sajid Anwar, Razaq Mahmood, Ankit Kawatra, James Higgins, Shariq Kamal and Tim O’Connell.

On Sunday, the SCC Pirates will play HKCC in a Twenty20 match. Shanghai Cricket Club Blazers Now Available

The historic Shanghai Cricket Club blazer has been brought back to life over the past season, and is now available to all club members.

The club is inviting all those interested in obtaining an SCC blazer to attend a fitting session on Saturday, September 7 at the Camel Puxi.

The design for the SCC blazer comes from a pre-1948 SCC blazer hanging in the C.C. Morris Cricket Library at Haverford College just outside Philadelphia, in the United States. The blazer belonged to H.H. Morris, an American cricketer who lived in Shanghai for some years at the beginning of the 20th Century.
