Jonti Leibowitz Scores 268*, Sets League Batting Record

Jonti-PageDaredevils batsman Jonti Leibowitz faced the first ball of the innings against the Bashers on Sunday for a dot, 39.4 overs after that, he faced the last ball of the innings and hit it for a four. In-between those two deliveries, Leibowitz was masterful, powering to 268* with strokes to all parts of the ground as the Daredevils rolled to a team high total of 389 for 7 in their 40 overs.

Leibowitz’s first boundary came in the second over of the game – a four – and by the end of the innings, he had scored 29 fours and 17 sixes.

The Bashers had no answers for the South African opener, and will rue the few chances they had. After point was unable to get a hand to a chance cut shot while Leibowitz was in his 40s, the fielder at long on misplayed a loopy mishit that bounced over the his head for four when the Leibowitz was on 80. The final chance came when Leibowitz, on 196, went for his double century with a big hit to long off that picked out the fielder on the boundary, only to see the catch dropped. Mei Chunhua takes Hat-trick in Friendly with Chinese Uni

A mixed team of Bashers assembled to play a Chinese team of university students at Songjiang University on Saturday, March 28, having organized the match following the SCC 6s last November as a pre-season warm-up.

The match was played on a rolled out matting pitch in a football field, surrounded by a running track, out at Songjiang University. That made for short square boundaries, but the unpredictable bounce of the pitch promised to even the contest for the bowlers. The enthusiasm of the Songjiang team was evident in their 8.30am practice ahead of the friendly 20-20 scheduled to start at 12 noon, and the crowd of happy students assembled along the boundary to watch the match. SCC World Cup Party

There is a change of plans for the Cricket World Cup Finals. The previously scheduled party at the Jinqiao Arena has been canceled. Instead, enjoy watching Australia and New Zealand fight for the championship at one of the following two options.

Option A: The Camel Puxi – The Camel will be telecasting the 2015 CWC final with special Australian and New Zealand beer for only 30 RMB + 50 RMB BBQ Special.

The 2015 Cricket Season Has Arrived

The first fixtures of the 2015 SCC League Season were announced on Tuesday by League Director Kerstin Petersen, with all teams scheduled to see action in the month of March.

Team Draft for SCC League Anniversary Sixes

The draft for the upcoming SCC League Anniversary Sixes will be held at the Camel Sports Bar on Monday, October 27 at 7pm. Experience the draft first hand, meet your team captain and teammates,  learn what you’ll be called during the sixes festival, and discuss your winning strategy over a happy hour beer.

The SCC League Anniversary Sixes will feature 12 mixed SCC sides battling it out over November 1 and 2 at the newly opened Wellington College Cricket Ground.
