2016 Season Opening Sixes Champs

Season Off to Flyer with Successful Sixes

By Paul Malpass, SCC President

The 2016 cricket season in Shanghai is now truly underway after a successful weekend of sixes kicked things off in style.

Twelve teams from across nine clubs battled in near perfect weather at Wellington College which resulted in K2 being crowned champions after defeating the Leopards in the final. This is K2 second successive title following last years D1 championship and as we enter the regular season, they must be considered favourites for the season ahead.

Aside from K2’s success, there were other notable performances, with a young promising Dulwich team reaching the semi finals. This should bode well for their season ahead as they make the step up to Division 2 for the first time. Continue reading “Season Off to Flyer with Successful Sixes”

CricHQ Training

CricHQ Training

With the proper training yet to come from CricHQ, the SCC will hold a training session this Friday, April 1 at Hit Wicket at 8:30 pm for anyone interested in learning how to score with the app and/or manage players and teams through the website. A second training will also be held next Wednesday, April 6 at the same time and place.

The app is quite intuitive and easy to use once a match is underway, but is a little confusing to start with, so I will go through the process of setting up matches, a little bit of scoring, team management and results submission. If you or anyone at your club is interested please let me know. Continue reading “CricHQ Training”

K2 Win First Division 1 Crown

K2 won their first Division 1 crown on Sunday, defeating the Daredevils in a lopsided final that saw K2 bowler Keshav take 5 wickets for just 6 runs and K2 bowl out the Devils for just 23 runs. K2 opened the match with the bat, establishing several promising partnerships before collapsing a bit near the end of their innings to reach 194/7. The Daredevils in response, never made it out of first gear, the dream of an undefeated season ending at Wellington with a whimper.

Update: Date Change – Shanghai Night Sixes 2015

Following the huge success of the previous two tournaments, the DPR Hot Dogs will be hosting the 2015 edition of the Shanghai Night Sixes on Saturday October 17th 30th at SCSC from 5pm.

This is a social tennis ball 6’s tournament with a big emphasis on socializing and having fun. Team entry is RMB 1500 per team: this includes playing shirts, F&B vouchers and buses to and from the ground on match day.

The main details are provided in the flyer below but if you need any further information and want to help out with organising beforehand or on the night please contact Danny Hooper or Vikas Laxman from the Hot Dogs. Continue reading “Update: Date Change – Shanghai Night Sixes 2015”

The 2015 Summer T20 Tournament Has Arrived

The annual summer SCC Twenty20 tournament has arrived. This year, the SCC put all the member clubs together to create six mixed squads across both clubs and divisions, ensuring that members get to play with those who they generally don’t team with. The tournament will last for three weeks.

“The aim is to not only make it a fun event,” said SCC President Manoj Mehta, “but more importantly, for members to get to know folks that are from other clubs and build some new bonds to make the SCC community stronger.”
