Pirates Awards at SCC AGM

The SCC AGM and Awards night was celebrated over the weekend, and with it the more significant awards for the Pirates season were presented. This season featured many great Pirates performances and team efforts, which made selected these awards challenging.

Pirates Batsman of the Year – Vinny Viswanath

Vinny opened the batting for the Pirates this year. He scored 137 runs at an average of 68.5 and S/R of 155.7, and finished with a very fine 100* against Jiankang University.

Pirates All-rounder of the Year – Sumesh Manganelly

Sumesh opened the bowling well, and always contributed quick runs with the bat even when the team was under pressure. He scored 42 runs at an average of 21.0 and S/R of 150.0, had bowling figures of 8-0-63-2, and took a catch as well.

Pirates Bowler of the Year – Mark Henwood

Mark bowled spin in the middle overs of the innings to good effect. His bowling figures of 9.4-2-32-11, included 4-fers against the visiting HKCC side and Jiankang University.

Special Contribution Award – Mei Collins

Mei was the SCA liaison on the SCC Excom this year. She contributed immensely to the success of the Pirates season in 2017. She was always available to contact the SCA to confirm game times, scorecards, and assist organizing the Pirates net sessions at Tongji University.

The Pirates were scheduled to play seven games this season, mainly in the new SCA T20 League. We finished with a record of  winning 3 games, losing 2, and having 2 rained out. That was enough for the Pirates to be Co-Champions of the SCA T20 League with Shangzhen University.

Thanks to everyone who was available and played for the Pirates this season, please contact Mark Henwood to arrange to collect your SCA Co-Champions badge.
